SMART LEARNING –
Your Brain Can Do More Than You Think

Learning without a plan is like scrolling without a destination: in the end, very little stays with you.

In this workshop, apprentices discover how to make learning more effective instead of simply spending more time with books, notes or digital materials.

They explore how attention, memory and learning actually work, how to create better conditions for concentration and how to use proven strategies to retain knowledge for vocational school, workplace tasks and examinations.

The aim is not to learn more, but to learn more intelligently, with less frustration and greater confidence.

Content

  • Understanding how learning works: attention, memory and neuroplasticity
  • Recognising common learning myths and understanding why fixed learning styles are not helpful
  • Creating better conditions for learning through sleep, movement, nutrition and effective breaks
  • Improving focus and concentration
  • Designing a suitable learning environment and choosing productive learning times
  • Structuring and prioritising learning material
  • Developing realistic learning plans
  • Using active recall instead of repeatedly reading the same material
  • Applying spaced repetition to retain knowledge over time
  • Using the Feynman technique and self-explanation
  • Trying out and combining different learning strategies
  • Using AI as a learning partner for explanations, practice questions and knowledge checks
  • Recognising the limitations, errors and misleading results of AI tools
  • Understanding procrastination and finding easier ways to get started
  • Preparing for examinations mentally and organisationally
  • Group activities and practical exercises

How Does the Company Benefit?

Apprentices learn to take greater responsibility for their own learning process.
They can absorb knowledge more effectively, retain it for longer and prepare more systematically for vocational school, workplace tasks and examinations.

At the same time, they develop a more responsible approach to AI and digital learning tools without handing over their own thinking and judgement.

What Makes This Workshop Different

The workshop does not focus solely on individual learning techniques. It also considers the conditions under which learning can work effectively.

Sleep, movement, nutrition, attention, motivation and the learning environment are therefore explored alongside practical learning methods.

The content is based on current findings from learning science, memory research and neuroscience. Outdated simplifications, such as fixed visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learning styles, are deliberately avoided.

Instead, apprentices explore a variety of strategies and consider which methods are most suitable for different learning goals. Current approaches and insights from experts including Jim Kwik and Andrew Huberman are also included.

What Apprentices Appreciate About This Workshop

Apprentices discover that successful learning does not depend solely on talent or discipline.
They can try out different methods, digital tools and AI applications directly and identify what genuinely helps them with specific learning tasks.

Many participants find it reassuring to learn that there is no single correct learning style. Instead, they receive a practical toolkit that allows them to make learning more individual, varied and effective.

International Perspective

Learning environments, examination systems and expectations regarding independent learning differ between countries and educational systems.

The workshop can therefore be adapted to the vocational education system, learning culture and digital environment of the participants.

For international groups, it can also support young people preparing for vocational training, study or examinations in Germany and help them understand common expectations regarding independent learning and personal responsibility.
